Akinade Ibuoye (known under the stage name Gaise Baba) is a Nigerian Afro-fusion Artiste who sings in his native language Yoruba, English, and the Nigerian variation of English – pidgin English, often combining all three languages within his songs. An Economics Graduate (BSc) from Obafemi Awolowo University, he holds a diploma in Music Business from Berklee College of music. Beyond writing, recording and performing music, Gaise Baba is the founder of certain platforms that serve his immediate communities, and the nation at large.

He founded LightOut movement; a High-School musical outreach and concert experience employing music and art as vehicles for social impact, teen advocacy and youth mentorship. On the LightOut movement, Gaise Baba leads The LightOut Collective – an ensemble of musicians, dancers, poets and other creatives, in touring high schools and colleges across the country. Since inception in November 2017, the movement has organized 14 editions and reached over 15,000 teenage and pre-teen students.

He is also the founder of ARAMANDA – a music festival celebrating urban Christian content delivered in an African yet contemporary style. ARAMANDA connects with young, social, digitally savvy and trendy Africans who love music and are looking to experience alternative Christian sounds. The festival debuted at Covenant Christian Centre right by the National Theatre Lagos in July 2019, and in March 2020 its second edition; ARAMANDA – The Elevation, held in partnership with The Elevation Church Lekki.

As a recording artiste, Gaise Baba’s debut album was released in August 2011 under Sanctified Records, introducing him into the music industry as a conscious artiste with a distinctive style of delivery that cuts across generations. The lead single off the album – ‘follow follow’ was nominated as Best Indigenous Concept at the Nigerian Music Video Awards (2011) and the Africa Entertainment Awards (2012) in Malaysia. Gaise Baba was awarded ‘New Revelation’ at The Scepters 2011 and ‘Best New Artiste’ at the premier edition of Crystal Awards in 2013. In 2015, Gaise Baba got signed to ID Cabasa’s record label – Coded Tunes, getting to work with one of the greatest Nigerian producers since the turn of the new millennium. He has released Eleven (11) single recordings since his debut album. In September 2020, he released Logo (The EP) – a critically acclaimed five (5) Track project. His Sophomore Album – A Decade After, is due for release in Q4 2021.

In 2015, Gaise Baba got signed to ID Cabasa’s record label – Coded Tunes, getting to work with one of the greatest Nigerian producers since the turn of the new millennium. He has released Eleven (11) single recordings since his debut album. In September 2020, he released Logo (The EP) – a critically acclaimed five (5) Track project. His Sophomore Album – A Decade After, is due for release in summer of 2021.

A Culture Architect and Creative Entrepreneur, he was the youngest of fourteen (14) influential artistes honored by the Ekiti State Government of Nigeria as Cultural Ambassadors in October 2013. As Ekiti State’s cultural ambassador, Gaise Baba travels the country and beyond, delivering outstanding musical performances and building a groundbreaking movement around his art and message.

In December 2020, Gaise Baba started Lounge464, a music and conversations spot that offers live, rustic, African music in a relaxed atmosphere. Free of the pressure of a grand concert or festival; Lounge464 is simply a high-engagement chill zone with a relatable stage and a community-type audience, where Gaise Baba shares his truest essence with his growing community.
It holds monthly in Lagos, and selectively in other cities within Nigeria and beyond. The experience is also livestreamed, making it viewable from anywhere in the world, in real time.
